So here's a little break down of how I feel now I've gotten into the 2nd week here (really? it feels so much shorter and it also feels like I've been here forever. It's kind of a cool feeling):
Intro to Poetry: The professor is cool, he's really very knowledgeable about a lot of information on all kinds of poets. His teeth really annoy me though, they are no sense straight.. and every time he gives a lecture I sort of get distracted. Any ways, we're starting on Shakespeare now which as most of you all reading this know, is my forever lover.
"Mine eye hath played the painter and hath steeled
Thy beauty's form in table of my heart.
My body is the frame wherein 'tis held,
And pérspective it is best painter's art.
For through the painter must you see his skill
To find where your true image pictured lies,
Which in my bosom's shop is hanging still,
That hath his windows glazèd with thine eyes.
Now see what good turns eyes for eyes have done:
Mine eyes have drawn thy shape, and thine for me
Are windows to my breast, wherethrough the sun
Delights to peep, to gaze therein on thee.
Yet eyes this cunning want to grace their art;
They draw but what they see, know not the heart." |
HOW I WISH THAT PEOPLE SPOKE LIKE THAT TODAY. Bless you, Sir Shakepeare and your amazing sonnets.
Intermediate French II: Now this makes me sad because the French teacher we had at the beginning of the year was really young and he was hot. I ain't gunna lie, his accent was really nice too. Apparently he resigned though and now we have Mme. Hall, who is actually very nice and we're learning a lot from. She makes us talk in mostly all french but lets it slide when we don't know words or phrases and teaches us the words, for instance, I now know how to say "global warming" in french- chauffage de terre.
Intro to Dev. Psych: This is one of two of my huge classes, I would say about 200 kids are in there. The teacher is super bubbliy, funny, interesting, and helpful. I've gotten to know her a little after class once. Cool lady- we share a love of Wishbone and berry pies so I'm pretty sure this class will be awesome. Especially because Christina and I are in it together.
Intro to Theather: The second half to the hugeness, also a little under 200 kids, it's pretty disorienting to look around because we're in a theather and you usually don't notice people in the other rows. As a general rule. Anywho, Mr. Urtz is pretty much the coolest guy ever, since the class is so big, I said hi to him after and we talked about Godspell and Music Man for a little. His power points are really amusing and he always has great stories about his own preformances. He's one of those professors that hate being called Doctor or Professor because 1. he's pretty young and 2. he's just too cool.
Exploring a Global Challenge: This class is extremely interesting, the articles are really cool but also very depressing at times, it makes me feel guilty for buying clothes, my new laptop, and all the stuff for college. But at the same time, it gives a suggestion on how to improve the system- which makes me want to do whatever I can to fix it. Poor Mr. Earth doesn't have much left in him for humanity to keep doing what it is now. I feel really good about being a vegetarian in this class. I did a ecological footprint online (myfootprint.org) and found out if everyone lived like me, that we would comsume 2.75 Earths. I also did one for my parents and if all humanity lived like them, they would consume 3.95 Earths. I was pretty proud of my footprint.
Anyways, Ithaca's starting to feel alot like home now, I really love my Tues/Thurs because I always finish breakfast early and finish my tea or sip a smoothie while chilling out on the roof of Textor, which has an amazing view of the lake (imagine I'm the one reading the book on the concrete bit near the statue- which would be more to the right):
I also really look forward to Fridays and weekends because that's when all the fun stuff happens, such as:
1. Trip to the Commons, I love that place..
2. Walmart and Wegmans excrusion part I
3. Chalk adventure (see pictures in previous enrty)
4. Mafia/Murder/Sardines, extreme version
5. Barns and Noble/Walmart/Wegmens excursion part II
6. Dance party (also in pictures, although the pictures lack our glowstick rave to Satisfaction and sing-alongs to Disney and Spice Girls)
7. Our awesome games by Chris- Including Celebrities and How's Yours, the two greatest games possibly ever invented
8. Discussions about how different states are from each other (aka How awesome Wawa is, What a township is, and other fun topics)
9. Ping-pong against the other people in Rowland. Some hardcore games have gone down. And by hardcore I mean not at all. But I am getting really good.
10. Not having homework and chilling out
So in the mist of all those fun shenanigans, I've gotten to know the bus system, the Commons, and figured out what our posse wants to do for Halloween (we want to dress up as the characters for Scooby Doo- I'm Velma.)
Yup. Hardcore.
I've also become an ice cream addict.
And gotten a lot of posters for my wall so that I really don't have room for much more. Will post pics soon!
Gonna go brush my teethies and chill before bed and class tomorrow..
But first a quick list of things I want to do:
1. Go to the Gorges, the last time Hinzy, Chris, Geoff, and Brandie went around 10 on a Saturday and the rest of us are late risers. Or we try to be. Lately I've been getting up around 10:30 on weekends.
2. Visit the Farmer's Market
3. Go shopping for Halloween. I'm really stoked
4. Get a doorstop, we've been using boxes.
5. Get Amelia into Doctor Who. It will happen.. oh yes, it will.
6. Eventually go to a party that isn't cramped or playing beer pong all night. No thank you.
7. Talk to the hot guys wandering around (espec. my new best friend who recognized my Dalek shirt)
8. DANCE
9. SING
10. YEY

As you have learned, T-Shirts are the way to a college guys heart, my friend. I was wearing my 'I Saw The Early November Before They Broke Up' shirt last year and out of nowhere, this incredibly hot guy came up to me and was like, "Hey, I was at their last show too!" I swear, the only cute straight guy at Arcadia and he talked to me because of my nerdy, slightly pretentious band shirt. I wear it all the time now, haha.
